Record-breaker Luke Wright has revealed he feared he might not even make it to Chelmsford last night.
Sussex were stuck in heavy traffic on the M25 ahead of their incredible win over Essex and the start was delayed.
When the game finally got underway, Sharks chased a world record target of 226 to beat their stunned hosts.
Wright fired 12 fours and 11 sixes in his 66-ball 153 not out, the biggest score ever in domestic T20.
Wright sent out a tweet before the game, jokingly asking for someone to take his place in the team.
He told BBC Radio Sussex: “We left at 1pm so we gave ourselves loads of time.
“You just never seemed to move anywhere (on the M25), even after the Dartford Tunnel.
“I was asking if there was anyone in Chelmsford who wanted to open the batting to replace me. But luckily we got here in time!”
Wright admitted he had no option but to hit out and said: “It was just one of those nights.
“Everything seemed to come out of the middle.”
