James Anyon has been passed fit to take part in Sussex’s pre-season tour to the UAE next week.

Anyon missed a fast bowling camp in Spain last month having undergone surgery on a knee problem which flared up over the winter.

But the 31-year-old is included in an 18-strong squad which will fly out on Tuesday to compete in the Emirates Airline T20 tournament which they have won for the past three years.

Skipper Ed Joyce along with Matt Machan and Chris Jordan will miss the trip due to their participation in the World Cup while Matt Prior is also absent as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious Achilles injury.

Sussex are due to play an MCC side including Alastair Cook, Michael Carberry, Nick Compton and Yuvraj Singh in the semi-finals of the Emirates Airline T20 with either Lancashire or Yorkshire awaiting the winner in the final.

They will also play 50-over games against the UAE and MCC Young Cricketers, a Twenty20 match against MCC Universities as well as a two-day game against Yorkshire.

Squad: Anyon, Beer, Brown, Cachopa, Finch, Hatchett, Hobden, Jackson, Liddle, Magoffin, Mills, Nash, Piolet, Shahzad, Wells, Wright, Yardy, Zaidi.
