Coach Mark Robinson admits Sussex’s batsmen are suffering a crisis of confidence.
Sussex slumped to their third defeat in their last four County Championship matches at Nottinghamshire yesterday after being bowled out for just 150 in their second innings to go down by 159 runs.
Three members of the top six were dismissed for ducks on a wicket which proved difficult for both sets of batsmen as Sussex were skittled for under 200 for the fourth time in the last three matches.
Robinson said: “Obviously the batsmen are hurting as they are paid to score runs but you have to feel some sympathy for them as the wickets in the last four matches have been very challenging.
“It does dent your confidence and belief. Some of them are a bit shell-shocked at the moment and when you can’t trust the bounce on a pitch that is when doubt starts to creep in but it is our job as coaches to try to build them up again.”
