Sussex have signed seamer Tim Linley on a month’s loan from Surrey.

The 33-year-old is ineligible to play in the NatWest T20 Blast clash with his parent club at Arundel Castle today but will be available for all formats.

Linley’s arrival follows the signing of left-arm spinner George Dockrell on loan from Somerset yesterday with both expected to make their debuts in the Championship clash with Durham at Arundel tomorrow.

Sussex moved to strengthen their seam attack with Chris Jordan, Jimmy Anyon, Lewis Hatchett and Ajmal Shahzad all currently injured while Tymal Mills is only playing Twenty20 games.

Linley previously spent a season at Sussex in 2006 but was unable to break into the first team and went on to join Surrey in 2009.

He has gone on to take 191 first class wickets in 62 matches at an average of 27.72 but has not featured this season as he recovers from a knee injury.

Surrey’s director of cricket Alec Stewart said: “This is a great opportunity for Tim to get some first team cricket as he continues his recovery from his knee injury.”
