Skipper Luke Wright admits it was the right decision to abandon Sussex’s NatWest T20 Blast clash with Surrey yesterday after Rory Burns and Moises Henriques suffered serious injuries.
Henriques and Burns were knocked unconscious after a sickening collision in the field in front of a bumper 8,000 crowd at Arundel Castle.
The game was held up for 45 minutes as the Surrey pair were treated by paramedics on the pitch before being rushed to Chichester hospital.
Wright said: “It was sickening to see and when something like that happens it affects everyone. There was no way we could continue and I’d just like to thank the crowd as their reaction when the game was abandoned was fantastic.
“It was good to see they both players were conscious when they went into the ambulances and the thoughts of everyone at Sussex is with them.”
