Luke Wright and Chris Nash Glamorgan blasted Sussex to a thumping victory over Glamorgan in the NatWest T20 Blast at Hove.

The pair put on 117 for the first wicket as the Sharks chased down Glamorgan’s total of 164-7 with eight wickets to spare.

Both raced to their half centuries off 30 balls with Wright going on to finish unbeaten on 92 – from 46 balls - to secure victory in the 15th over.

Earlier, Tymal Mills had taken 3-34, Will Beer 2-24 and Chris Liddle 2-26 to restrict Glamorgan despite an unbeaten 63 from Ben Wright.

The result keeps Sussex in second place in the south group and needing just one win from their final two game to guarantee a place in the quarter-finals Sussex made a good start with the ball after Glamorgan skipper Jacques Rudolph had won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat first.

Tymal Mills had Colin Ingram superbly caught down the leg side by wicketkeeper Craig Cachopa in the second over before Chris Liddle removed the dangerous Rudolph and Aneurin Donald to leave Glamorgan 47-3.

Sussex kept chipping away with Will Beer dismissing Mark Wallace for 20 and then getting rid of Craig Meschede after he had smashed Matt Machan for two sixes and two fours in one over.

Glamorgan were grateful to Wright who anchored the innings. His half century was not spectacular but it was important as he finished unbeaten on 63 from 46 balls. Tymal Mills took a couple of late wickets to finish with 3-34 but Glamorgan plundered 28 runs from the last two overs to boost their score to 164-7.

That still looked at least 20 runs under par on a decent wicket, a theory that was reinforced when Nash and Wright got Sussex’s innings off to electric start.

The pair had put on an unbeaten stand of 116 at Glamorgan last month to guide Sussex to a ten-wicket win and carried on where they left off.

They had taken the score to 64-0 at the end of the six over powerplay and then really put the pedal to the floor.

Wright brought up his 50 – off 30 balls – with a six down the ground off Dean Cosker and then smashed Andrew Salter for consecutive maximums.

Nash also took 30 balls to reach his half century with the 100 partnership coming off just 58 deliveries.

The match was already all but won when Nash was caught on the cover boundary for 50 in the 12th over.

That did not slow Sussex and Wright, however, as Wright smashed Dean Cosker for consecutive sixes before George Bailey sealed victory by launching the spinner over the ropes with 31 balls to spare.
