Chris Nash has urged a sell-out Hove crowd to roar Sussex on to a victory that would secure a home Twenty20 quarter-final tonight.

The Sharks already have one foot in the knockout stages following a run of five wins from their last six games.

Victory over Hampshire tonight (7pm) would guarantee their place in the last eight of the NatWest T20 Blast and also ensure the financial boost of a home quarter-final for the first time since 2012.

Nash said: “Last Friday (against Glamorgan) was the best atmosphere we have had this season so hopefully we can get the crowd behind us again and fly through to the quarter-finals.

“It is a big game for us because there is that carrot of securing a home quarter-final which is important to the club.

“The money from that obviously helps but the main thing from our point of view as players is that we want to go through with momentum rather than stuttering into the quarter-finals.”

Sussex kick-started their impressive run in the NatWest T20 Blast with a remarkable win against the odds at Hampshire and Nash believes they have the tools to go on to lift the trophy.

Nash added: “Look at what we have added. Tymal (Mills) is an attacking fast bowler who takes wickets and we have lacked that in last couple of years.

“Lidds (Chris Liddle) has really discovered some form and Ollie (Robinson) is the find of the century. We have always had a good batting line-up so if you put it all together we have a team capable of going all the way.”
