SKIPPER Luke Wright insists Sussex can still force their way into the Championship promotion race.

Sussex have yet to live up their pre-season billing as title favourites with just one win in eight matches leaving them sixth in division two.

They had to settle for a seventh draw of the season against Glamorgan at Hove yesterday as they were frustrated by an unbeaten century from David Lloyd.

Wright said: “I don’t feel like we could have done much more to win that game. We gave ourselves a chance but the wicket didn’t deteriorate how we hoped and you have to give credit to Glamorgan for the way they batted.

“It has been tough for everyone to get wins this season with the new rules on the toss but as everyone is drawing it means that you only need a few good results to get you back up the table.

“We know we have got to start picking up wins to put pressure on the top teams but we are certainly not out of it yet. If we play the way we did over the last four days for the rest of the season I think we will give ourselves a good chance.”
