George Garton has been named in the England Lions squad for their tri-series against Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A later this month.

Garton is included in an inexperienced squad which will be led by Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan.

The 19-year-old is joined in the party by Lancashire’s Saqib Mahmoodand Surrey allrounder Sam Curran who were team-mates at the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year.

Garton burst onto the scene in April when he took a wicket with his first ball in first class cricket against Leeds/Bradford MCCU.

The Brighton-born left-armer has gone on to play three games in the Championship this season along with five appearances in limited overs cricket.

His inclusion in the squad means he will be unavailable for the Championship game against Kent at Tunbridge Wells as well as matches against Essex and Surrey in the NatWest T20 Blast and Essex in the Royal London One Day Cup.
