Worcestershire were forced to follow on after a dramatic collapse saw them lose ten wickets against Sussex on the third day at Hove.

There was little hint of the drama to come when openers Daryl Mitchell (121) and Brett D’Oliveira (80) put together a record first-wicket stand for the county against Sussex.

But from 215-0, Worcestershire collapsed to 312 all out, losing ten wickets for 97 runs in 30 overs either side of lunch.

Jofra Archer took 4-21 in 7.4 overs with the second new ball after David Wiese had removed Mitchell and D’Oliveira, both to well-judged catches by Stiaan van Zyl in the deep.

Archer was well supported by Vernon Philander who picked up 3-31 in a seven-over burst at the other end. After the openers had been parted only two Worcestershire batsmen passed 12 – Joe Clarke and Ed Barnard, who both made 22.

Worcestershire have gone in again 267 runs in arrears.
