Stiaan van Zyl is facing an “extended” absence with a knee injury.

The South African batsman underwent a scan on Monday after suffering a problem during the recent Championship match at Kent.

The county have not specified for how long he will be out.

But a return to action does not appear imminent.

An update released by club this afternoon read: “The South African has now seen a specialist and is likely to require an extended period of rest and rehabilitation.”

Jofra Archer arrives back in England today after his IPL campaign with Rajasthan Royals came to an end.

He will not feature in the Royal London One-Day Cup fixture at home to Middlesex tomorrow and will be assessed ahead of the trip to Gloucestershire on Sunday.
