SUSSEX are to reward rising star Lewis Hatchett with a full contract.
The 20-year-old left-armer has made a spectacular introduction to Championship cricket with nine wickets in two games including 5-47 against Leicestershire last week.
Hatchett has agreed a short-term deal until the end of the season but he will discuss a longer contract with coach Mark Robinson in the next few days.
Robinson says it is a reward not only for his performances since he broke into the side but the hard work he has put in over the last year to turn himself into a first-class cricketer.
He said: “Lewis is going to get a contract. We have him on a short-term deal until the end of the season to support him but we will sit down with him at some point and sort out his future because he deserves it.”
