Sussex suffer first-day washout

3:55pm Friday 27th August 2010

There was frustration for promotion chasing Sussex and Glamorgan after rain washed out the first day of their LV County Championship Division Two match at Hove.

Morning rain finally stopped at midday but umpires Peter Willey and Barry Dudleston decided at 3.30pm after three inspections that parts of the outfield were too damp for play.

Leaders Sussex went into the game 20 points clear of Glamorgan at the top of the table and closing on an immediate return to the first division with three games of the season to go.

The match is due to start at 11am tomorrow.
