Sussex will be playing division one cricket in the County Championship next season after beating fellow strugglers Worcestershire at New Road.
James Anyon took 4-55 and Amjad Khan 3-43 as Worcestershire were bowled out for 169 on the final day to seal a 225-run victory.
Sussex declared on their overnight total of 267-4 with Joe Gatting finishing unbeaten on 116.
They made regular inroads into the Worcestershire batting with only opener Daryl Mitchell offering much resistance with a stubborn 61.
Anyon eventually removed him and the Pears went on to lose their last four wickets for just 17 runs, with Chris Nash taking 2-20 and Monty Panesar 1-23.
The victory means Sussex are assured of staying up ahead of their final match at Trent Bridge, which starts on Monday.

As the season drifts to a close the County Ground faithful can reflect on a rich season which just ran out of steam in the final furlong.
Playing Div 1 cricket in 2012 could well be the cornerstone of a drive towards further trophies.
