Points scoring
Goalkeeper and defenders: Your goalkeeper and defenders will receive ONE point for being chosen in the starting line-up and the points will be
increased to FOUR for a clean sheet as long as the player plays a minimum of 70 minutes of that game, including extra time if it is a cup match.
However, ONE point will be deducted for every goal conceded while your player is on the pitch. Therefore, if your player is in a team which loses 2-1, he will score minus-one from the match (a starting total of one, minus two points = -1). If a defender comes on as substitute, he will only score one point for playing and a total of four for a clean sheet providing he appears for a minimum of 70 minutes of that game, including extra time if the match requires it.
However, a substitute goalkeeper or defender will concede points for goals scored while he is on the pitch, regardless of how long he plays.
Positions listed in the original Argus printed squads will apply throughout the competition. Therefore, if a listed defender plays in midfield he will
still score points for a clean sheet and lose points for goals conceded.
Similarly, if a listed midfielder plays in defence, he will not score points for a clean sheet or lose points for goals conceded. There will be no
assists in The Argus Fantasy Football this season.
Goals: A goal in normal time or extra time in the case of cup matches will score FOUR points. Penalty shoot-outs at the end of cup matches do not count towards any scoring.
If a midfielder scores a goal, he will be awarded SIX points.
Red cards: A player who receives a red card during any stage of the game, including extra time in the case of cup matches, will lose THREE points.
Own goals: A player who scores an own goal during any stage of the game, including extra time in the case of cup matches, will lose TWO points.
Only points accrued while playing for a Premiership, Championship or League One club count. If a player is transferred to any other club, such as a
Scottish club, abroad, to a League Two club or non-league, he will no longer score points. Players loaned to clubs outside of the Premiership,
Championship or League One will stop scoring points for the duration of that loan.
No points will count while playing internationals, any other representative football, reserve team or non-competitive games.
If a player is transferred to another side within the Premiership, Championship or League One, he will continue to score points. In the case of
defenders, points will relate to the playerıs new club. For example, if Guy Butters was listed as Albion but was transferred to Liverpool and Liverpool kept a clean sheet while Albion lost 3-0, Buttersı points would be four for a clean sheet, not -2 for a 3-0 loss.
Points accrued in cup games (ie. FA Cup and Carling Cup) do count towards the competition.
