Jake Robinson dedicated Whitehawk’s history-making FA Cup victory over Lincoln City to the club’s supporters.
A bumper crowd of 1,342 turned out at the Enclosed Ground for the first round tie with a hardcore group of fans behind the goal generating a brilliant atmosphere.
The former Albion striker said: “The fans today were phenomenal. The noise they made really did inspire the players.
“To see the progress the club has made over last couple of years is amazing. When I started playing here there were 20 or 30 fans behind the goal and now we had a full house. It gave me goose-bumps and kicking towards them in the first half spurred us on to get a fast start to reward them.”
Boss Steve King said: “That is up there with other successes I’ve had as a manager as it’s the first time in 70 years this club has got to the first round and now the second round.
“To make that history makes me a very proud person. I made history at Lewes (winning promotion to the Conference premier) and Macclesfield (reaching the fourth round of the FA Cup) and now I’ve done it here.”
