Elliott Romain was both hero and villain as Eastbourne Borough reached their first Parafix Sussex Senior Cup final since 2011.

Substitute Romain, a beaten finalist with Lewes last season, nodded home a corner on 102 minutes to seal a 3-2 win over Bognor at Culver Road, Lancing.

However, he was then sent off for a second bookable offence after clashing with Calvin Davies.

Borough will now play Worthing in the final at the Amex on a date to be announced in May.

They led 2-0 last night only for FA Trophy semi-finalists Bognor to fight back to force extra-time.

Borough went ahead in the ninth minute, Jamie Taylor seizing on a loose ball and firing inside the far post from 20 yards.

Bognor should have levelled immediately, Ollie Pearce somehow missing from three yards out with the goal gaping after being picked out by Jason Prior’s astute centre.

It became 2-0 on 24 minutes when Nat Pinney carefully directed a header into the corner of the net from Ryan Worrall’s cross.

Moments later Darren Lok headed narrowly over from Sam Beale’s corner and the Vanarama National League south side looked in total control.

But Bognor came back with Stuart Green halving the arrears on 32 minutes from Pearce’s pull-back and Jason Prior levelling five minutes before the break with a lovely curling effort after Marvin Hamilton failed to clear.

There were fewer chances in the second half but Bognor finished strongly with Lewis Carey making four saves while Craig Robson headed against the crossbar with five minutes remaining.

Then at the other end, with seconds remaining, Elliott Romain had a great chance to win it for Borough following a slip by the otherwise impressive Calvin Davies but Grant Smith saved with his legs.

It was Romain who put Borough back in front in the first period of extra time, heading home a corner from the right by McCallum.

The goalscorer was then sent off for a second bookable offence on 112 minutes.
