Eastbourne Borough goalkeeper Lewis Carey will be back between the posts for today’s match at home to Bishop’s Stortford.

A groggy Carey was substituted during the first half of last week’s 3-2 FA Cup win at home to Hartley Wintney after being caught by an opposition forward while jumping to catch the ball.

Academy goalkeeper Louis Rogers came on for his debut and played a part in the win but Carey is fit to play today.

Manager Tommy Widdrington said: “The bang to the head Lewis took has gone and he will be fine for the weekend.

“Louis did well. For a young lad to be chucked into that environment it was tough but he tried manfully and was part of the reason we got through.”

Borough have now gone four games unbeaten in league and cup, with only one defeat in their last seven matches.

Widdrington said: “It is all about confidence and continuity. Hopefully we can carry on from last week on a positive note.

“We know all the teams in this league are tough to beat and Bishop’s Stortford will be no different so we will have our work cut out.”

In the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup Borough will entertain National League premier side Dover next weekend.

It is a repeat of last year’s clash at the same stage of the competition. The teams drew 0-0 at Priory Lane before Dover won 1-0 in the replay.

Widdrington said: “We play them again and the chances of that happening are quite strange.

“Dover are a different side to what they were last year, we are a different side. While it is two clubs playing each other again, I am sure it is two different teams and let’s hope it will be a different result.”

Meanwhile, academy manager Shaun North has left Borough to take up a post with an unnamed National League side.

North only joined Borough in the summer. Chris Agutter has been promoted to replace him.
