Eastbourne Borough have been handed a massive boost ahead of their biggest test so far this season.

Elliott Romain has been cleared of elbowing an opponent in the recent draw at East Thurrock and had his red card rescinded.

Borough appealed against the dismissal of their frontman after seeing footage of the incident.

He would have faced a three-match ban, starting tomorrow night at home to leaders Maidenhead in National League south.

Meanwhile, Borough have been drawn at home to Met Police in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The Police are currently bottom of the Ryman Premier, having lost their first six matches.

There are uninspiring away ties for Whitehawk and Bognor, both of whom visit teams from their own division.

Hawks go to East Thurrock United while Rocks are at Billericay, where they won 2-0 just ten days ago.

Lewes’s place in the next stage depends on their replay at Sevenoaks on Wednesday.

Burgess Hill and Hastings both travel.

Second qualifying round ties will be played on Saturday, September 17.

Draw (Sussex teams): Lewes or Sevenoaks, Hayes and Yeading v Worthing or Carshalton, Eastbourne Borough v Met Police, Kempston Rovers v Burgess Hill, East Thurrock v Whitehawk, Billericay v Bognor, Barton Rovers v Hastings.
