Eastbourne Borough gave signed Sergio Torres, former skipper of their rivals Whitehawk.
The all-action Argentinean midfielder links up with ex-Bognor boss Jamie Howell for the new Vanarama National League south season.
His switch is being seen as a coup at Priory Lane but is another hammerblow for managerless Hawks, who have already seen Danny Mills and Mike West quit.
Howell said: “I am really happy to announce the signing of Sergio for Eastbourne Borough.
"Sergio is a player I have admired for many years and he will bring a wealth of experience and quality. I am delighted he has committed himself to the club.”
