96:00: Well it looks like we will not be getting that lap from the players as fans drift to the exits or just hang around on the pitch. I think a lap of honour would have been pushing it a bit after that season but at least the worst was avoided thanks to that run of four wins and a draw in their last five games. I'm off to speak to Gary Dicker now. Keep an eye on the website for plenty of reaction and thanks again for following the action with us.
95:00: Well we certainly had a pitch invasion! Players were mobbed as they tried to get off and Russell Slade was hoisted aloft by some fans. He then saluted the supporters in the South Stand before being helped to the sanctuary of the changing rooms by stewards. Fans headed to the tunnel area to salute their heroes and are now returning to the stands in the hope of seeing the Seagulls players do a lap of thanks.

94:00: Stay with me if you like and I'll try and relay some of the senes here.
93:00: Final whistle All over! Albion win and stay up - and here comes the pitch invasion.
91:00: ALBION ARE SAFE! Leeds have won.
89:00: Leeds score in added time to go 3-0 up - it looks very much like bye bye Cobblers!
sul.j, says...
88:00: Despite appeals over the loudspeakers, I suspect a pitch invasion could be imminent!
sul.j, says...
86:00: Yellow card Great possession football ends with Johnson fouling Forster and being booked. It also uses up plenty of time.
85:00: All quiet now on the pitch which is great news for Albion. Slade just came out and offered a wave to South Stand fans singing his name.

80:00: Yellow card All action from McLeod. He headed over from a great Forster cross, has got in a couple of good tackles and now sees yellow for blasting a shot way over the bar after the whistle had gone. Apparently Albion are flying high now in 16th place.
sul.j, says...
76:00: You can sense the relief around Withdean. They are closing in on safety.
russellsnr, says...
73:00: Goal! There it is! And it's FORSTER. He followed up like lightning to fire home after Logan could not hold a blast from, of all people, Dicker, the man on loan from Stockport.
71:00: Substitution Last switch by Slade and it's down the left as McLeod goes on for Cox. McLeod was a sensation in the first game of the season at Crewe - can he finish the campaign with even a glimpse of that form?
simonp503, says...
66:00: Yellow card O'Grady is booked for a foul. A clean sheet here for Albion would be priceless as it's hard to see where a goal is coming from at the West end. Up at Leeds, Akinfenwa headed wide for Northampton a few minutes ago. As things stand Albion are safe but they are walking a tightrope.
61:00: A recap: Results as they stand send Northampton down with Crewe (who are 1-0 down). A Stockport goal, which could happen, sends the Seagulls into the drop zone.
60:00: Jermaine Beckford puts Leeds 2-0 up on the hour - and some Albion fans are now singing "We all love Leeds". The Seagulls still need to do their bit here though and Forster almost guided a header inside the far post from Whing's cross.
sul.j, says...
55:00: Albion are increasingly relying on Leeds to do them a favour here. A Leeds win and a draw here nmeans the Seagulls just about stay up. Today's gate is 8,618 of whom 794 are in the away end.

52:00: In case you had not seen, Anyinsah was again involved for Carlisle, this time with a mis-kick! The ball was cleared to Paul Thirlwell who scored wth a cracker. Not so cracking was a volley by Cox here just now which looped well over. I guess it is now all eyes on Leeds v Noton!
49:00: Carlisle two up now and it's all Stockport here in the opening minutes of the half. The biggest of several scares saw Kuipers spill an O'Grady shot and then do just enough to put off Johnson as they contested the rebound.
sul.j, says...
46:00: Substitution My two-plus-two did indeed make four. Forster is on for Andrew.
GermanSeagull, says...
45:00: Probably a good time for me to say thanks for following us during this funny old season. I usually do my best to reply where I can but I doubt that will be possible during what could be a tense second half. But your feedback from around the globe is greatly appreciated. Hopefully we'll do it again next season, whatever the division.
45:00: Is that significant? Forster has left the warm-up and run across to the changing room with Matt Miller, one of the medical staff.
45:00: Andrew seemed to collide with the woodwork as he got in that late header and has been having treatment ever since. Could Forster or Davies be on for the restart? Both have stayed out there to warm up during the interval.
45:00: Half time Goalless at the break and for now Luciano Becchio is the toast of Withdean with that headed goal for Leeds at home to Northampton. Right now it's the Cobblers and Crewe in the drop zone with Cheltenham and Hereford.
44:00: So close. Cox does superbly to win the ball off a defender and get in a shot which Logan diverts upwards. As the ball hangs in the air, Andrew flies in with a diving header from a tight angle which bounces off the top of the bar. There was a half chance before that as a lay-off by Owusu found Loft's run and his shot was blocked for a corner. Better from the hosts.

41:00: Albion move out of the bottom four for now as Leeds go ahead at home to Northampton.

35:00: Cox has caused a few moments of unfulfilled promise wth darting runs but Albion are heading down if all scores stay like this. Did I mention it's all a bit nervous?

simonp503, says...
29:00: Yellow card Sorry Gus, I knew it was somewhere east of Newhaven! More signs of nerves on 27 as Owusu and Turnbull get involved in a bit of handbags after the ball had gone. Both are booked. Then Johnson gets in a great position and his snap shot is pushed out by Kuipers. I hate to worry you all but Stockport are looking very lively.

sul.j, says...
24:00: Was it a penalty on 23mins? Cox went down as Thompson lunged in but ref Wright pointed only for a goal kick. Stockport have filled the West Stand and their fans are in good voice. Johnson just did well to win a corner but Kuipers caught it under pressure.

17:00: Substitution Good evening, Afghanistan. The Hart gamble has not worked - he is limping off with Andrew coming on. Hart receives a standing ovation.
simonp503, says...
15:00: First test for Logan as he comes out to punch clear Borrowdale's tempting cross as Hart moves in. I can reveal the Carlisle goal was created by ex-Seagull Joe Anyinsah who dummied to shoot before finding Kavanagh, who fired a screamer into the top corner. Still all quite nervy here.

11:00: Afternoon SulJ - "Much ado about one-nothing" would do this afternoon. Old stager Graham Kavanagh was the man whose Carlisle goal has put Albion into the drop zone as things stand.

8:00: Gus in China spotted it! Carlisle go 1-0 up and the stakes here rise ever higher. No significant action to report here though Albion did get a low cross into the box which was cleared.

russellsnr, says...
4:00: Early scare as O'Grady finds room in the box for a shot which Virgo deflects behind. Nervy start this by the hosts. Sorry, Simon, have been away so didn't see the picture though I did catch some third division action in Slovakia in front of about 200 spectators, so rather different to this!

2:00: Good morning to our Dallas audience - and good to see a bit of culture in Your Say too as Beethoven quotes Shakespeare! Albion are playing what I always feel to be their lucky way around, West to East in the first half. Three of their home wins have come this way.
Northstander, says...
0:00: The teams come out to a blue and white striped mosaic around the ground as supporters hold up pieces of card left on the seats. The bits of card then fold up like fans and make a right racket when slapped against your hand, as about 9,000 people are proving right now! Slightly disappointingly, I can reveal the bits of card bear the words of Sussex By The Sea and instructions as to when to hold them up in the air but it's a really good effort by the home club all the same and the atmosphere is excellent as the seconds tick away to kick-off.
0:00: So here we go! Not quite the script that was written last summer but an excitng finale all the same as Albion bid to retain League One status. This is Brian Owen at Withdean bringing you updates from Albion v Stockport in a game which will see the Seagulls stave off relegation if they win. Drop points and Russell Slade's men will need favours from elsewhere. Of course, we will keep tabs on the other key games but let's see if the unchanged hosts can do the job for themselves. It could be quite an afternoon. Stick with us...
