Plea for tidy welcome for the Olympic torch

HYNDBURN residents are urged to join a Keep Britain Tidy campaign to get neighbourhoods looking their best for the Olympic torch relay.

Hyndburn Council is backing the national summer clean-up bid and asking the borough to show a pride in where they live. Tips for helping Hyndburn look its best involve getting togehter with neighbourhood clean-up groups, or simply picking up a piece of litter whenever you can.

Neighbourhood groups who register receive a Big Tidy Up kit which includes tabards, refuse sacks and limited-edition Show the World wristbands, from www.lovewhereyoulive.org/showtheworld.

H.B.C. should just pretend the Queen's running through the streets, carrying the Olympic torch.

I'm sure they'd find the money then, to prettify the borough.
