Lewis Killeen scored his second goal in three games to earn Crawley a 1-0 win at Tamworth, their first away from home in the Blue Square Premier since mid-August.
The midfielder pounced from close range in the 14th minute after Charles Ademeno had seen two shots blocked, the first by goalkeeper Danny Alcock and the follow up on the line by Richard Tait.
Reds always carried a threat on the counter-attack with Ademeno and Ben Smith both going close in the first half.
Reds' goalkeeper Simon Rayner made a fine save to keep out Neil Mackenzie's free kick and although Tamworth built up a head of steam in the second half they didn't threaten Rayner too often.
Bradley Pritchard twice fired off target and Jake Sheridan headed into the keeper's grateful hands with ten minutes to go.
But the visitors could have scored a second on the break with Smith and the tireless Barry Cogan going close.
Reds lost midfielder Eddie Hutchinson to a neck injury during the warm-up and Ademeno limped off in the first half with what looked like a recurrence of his knee problem.
