Eastbourne Borough will have to come from behind in the second half if they are to keep their FA Trophy dream alive.

Sam Ives' goal against the run of play in the 13th minute has given Cambridge a slender lead at Priory Lane.

Borough have been the better team in the opening 45 minutes but failed to take their chances while United scored from their only real opportunity.

Nathan Crabb had already made a mess of a header when picked out in a good position by Matt Crabb while Paul Armstrong's volley from the edge of the area was deflected just wide when the visitors took the lead.

Danny Crow's low cross almost reached Chris Holroyd and although Marc Pullan got in a block the ball ran to Ives to blast home from eight yards.

Borough could have levelled three minutes later when some persistent work from Nathan Crabb on the left hand edge of the area set up Jamie Taylor at the far post but he could only stab wide at full stretch.

Nathan Crabb had an appeal for a penalty waved away in the 35th minute when he crashed to the ground as he attempted to get on the end of a corner from Matt Crabb.

Borough should have been level five minutes before the interval when Nathan Crabb got behind the United defence but his shot was pushed around a post by Danny Potter.
