Whitehawk boss Steven King admits his relegation-threatened side face an almighty task this weekend.

A 1-0 win at home to Hayes and Yeading on Tuesday kept the Hawks three points above the Conference south drop zone with six games to play.

Today they visit leaders Eastleigh – but King insists their fate will not be decided by that game.

Hawks have won five games out of 11 since King took over in February. One of their defeats was 4-1 at home to Eastleigh.

King said: “Eastleigh need the win as much as we do and they are looking to win the championship. They are two points in front with a game in hand and they go to (second-placed) Bromley on Tuesday night.

“This is a big ask of us but if anyone was at the first game the scoreline never reflected how that game was.

“I bumped into their striker Ben Wright and he said what a weird game it was. He said we were all over them until they scored and that was how it was. It wasn’t as one-sided as the scoreline suggests.

“The fight for survival is going to go down to the last game of the season with people having to play each other.”

Tommy Fraser serves the second of a three-match ban but King hopes to have an otherwise full squad to choose from.

Left-back Lee Hills hopes to be fit despite on on-going hamstring injury.
