Danny Bloor admits it was a huge relief for Lewes to grab their first win of the season.

But the Rooks No.2 has warned it will continue to be tough until they can get some continuity in their team line-up.

Lewes won at the eighth time of asking when Fraser Logan struck deep into stoppage time to secure a 3-2 victory over nine-man Grays Athletic on Wednesday.

It was a welcome win for a team that has been hampered by injuries and suspensions in the opening weeks of the season.

However, another three players went off injured during the game and two more reported knocks the following morning.

Gary Elphick went off with a neck problem on his return to the side following a hamstring injury while Nicky Wheeler and Nathan Crabb also had to be replaced.

Jack Dixon and Sam Cole are also doubts ahead of today’s game with Wingate and Finchley.

Skipper Jack Walder, Alex Malins, Henry Muggeridge and Ross Treleaven continue to be missing while Ollie Rowe and Jordan Sanderson start suspensions.

Bloor said: “This is what is causing us problems. When you are playing Saturday-Tuesday or Wednesday-Saturday there is not enough time to recover.

“We were delighted to win. At 2-1 up against nine men we looked afraid to win but we showed fantastic character to get the three points and there were a number of positives.”

Former Crawley Town defender Louis John made his debut on Wednesday after signing on a month’s loan from Sutton United while Elliott Romain scored his first goal for the club after joining in the summer from Three Bridges.

Bloor added: “Louis looked assured and did very well.”

Today is Non-League Day and Lewes’s match has been selected as a ‘Season of Action’ fixture to support the Kick It Out campaign.

Players from both teams will wear ‘Kick It Out’ and ‘Fans for Diversity’ T-shirts during the pre-match warm-up while fans will be presented with anti-discrimination materials including flags, badges, stickers and wristbands.
