Whitehawk have signed a new goalkeeper ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup third qualifying round tie at home to Chelmsford.

Reading’s highly-rated former England under-16 keeper Lewis Ward has joined the Hawks in time for the game.

Ward was part of the Reading squad which reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals last season.

Whitehawk manager Steven King has brought him in as new signing Craig Ross is cup-tied, having played for former club Farnborough in the last round.

Meanwhile, Hawks striker Matthew Barnes-Homer has rejoined former club Macclesfield Town on loan.

Barnes-Homer has failed to score in ten appearances – four starts – since joining Whitehawk in the summer.

The FA Cup trophy will be at the Enclosed Ground tomorrow when football fans will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with famous cup.

Happy to have joined @comeonyouhawks on loan. It's going to be a great experience and I cant wait to start it!!
