Peacehaven will hand a debut to goalkeeper Mark Zawadski when they entertain lowly AFC Hornchurch tomorrow.

Regular stopper Tony Di Bernardo has returned to Canada on a two-week holiday so manager Shaun Saunders moved swiftly to sign Zawadski who was without a club.

Zawadski, right, finished last season with Horsham and was previously with Crawley Down, Burgess Hill and Bognor, who he has been training with to keep fit.

Striker Freddie Barker comes back into the squad after returning from a loan spell at East Grinstead where he scored three goals.

But Tom Lawley misses out after tearing a calf muscle in Wednesday’s last-gasp Sussex Senior Cup defeat at Burgess Hill.

The Magpies were unbeaten in seven games in all competitions ahead of the Burgess Hill match.

Their good run coincided with the arrivals of former Albion duo Tommy Fraser and Joe Gatting – and Saunders hopes they can return to winning ways tomorrow against a Hornchurch side third from bottom in Ryman premier.

He said: “We have been decent in the league and have been accumulating points. Hornchurch are down there and it is a game we will be looking to win.

“Since Tommy and Joe came in we hadn’t lost until Wednesday. Our form had been really good. They have given us a lift and they are good players.”

Much more non-league in The Argus today.
