Influential midfielder John-Paul Kissock is a doubt for Whitehawk ahead of their trip to St Albans today.

Kissock has been struggling with flu this week and is rated by manager Steven King as “touch and go”.

King is still trying to strengthen his squad despite taking four points from the last two league games.

His options have been hit by the return of Sahr Kabba to Lincoln City at the end of his loan spell with the Hawks. Kabba scored once in six appearances.

King is encouraged by the recent progress of his team after a difficult run when they lost four Conference south games on the trot.

They followed a 2-1 win at Staines with a 6-0 defeat of County League side Storrington in the Sussex Senior Cup and then a goalless draw with Havant and Waterlooville last Saturday.

King said: “Two wins and a draw was a positive week. We had two clean sheets and it would have been three but for a freak goal by the goalkeeper at Staines. I won’t say we have turned the corner but it is positive.”
