Darren Budd scored a late winner as Burgess Hill achieved the result of the day for Sussex sides in the FA Trophy.

The Ryman south Hillians fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at home to premier division Leatherhead.

Joe Keehan held his nerve to convert penalties in the 66th and 80th minutes before Budd hit a screamer to give Ian Chapman’s side victory with three minutes to go.

Otherwise it was a disappointing day for Sussex clubs.

Whitehawk battered Basingstoke but failed to take their chances ended up losing 1-0. To compound their misery, Hawks had Gerardo Bruna and John-Paul Kissock sent off for second bookable offences.

Eastbourne Borough went out 2-1 at home to Lowestoft Town. Darren Lok headed them on to level terms 14 minutes from time but the visitors hit back to steal victory three minutes later.

Nicky Wheeler hit Lewes’ consolation as they were outclassed 6-1 away to Conference north Oxford City while Peacehaven went down 4-0 at home to Conference south Gosport Borough.

In Ryman south, Will Berry scored twice and Brannon O’Neill got the other as Worthing won 3-0 at Corinthian Casuals.

Three Bridges conceded late on to lose 3-2 at home to Merstham, having led 2-1 until the 68th minute thanks to Tony Garrod and Allan Tait.

Hastings United lost 1-0 at Whitstable Town.
