Burgess Hill preserved the only unbeaten league record in the top eight tiers of English football with a 2-1 win at Chipstead tonight.

Rob O’Toole and Greg Luer were the scorers as the Hillians moved level on points with leaders Merstham at the top of Ryman south.

Remarkably, Ian Chapman’s side also have five games in hand on the only side above them.

O’Toole’s 12th-minute opener was cancelled out before half-time and Hillians goalkeeper Josh James made two tremendous saves before Luer struck the winner just past the hour-mark.
