Whitehawk went third in Vanarama Conference south following a 2-1 win at home to second placed Bromley.

Goals from Sam Gargan and Sergio Torres completed a fantastic week for the Hawks after thrashing Crawley Town 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the Sussex Senior Cup in midweek.

This latest win also condemned Bromley to their first away defeat in the league this season.

The deadlock was broken on 32 minutes when Bromely, under pressure, failed to get the ball clear and Gargan drove low into the far corner.

The match was held up for seven minutes when referee Michael George was injured, to be replaced by one of his assistants and a qualified referee in the crowd took over one line.

When the game restarted Hawks opened up a two-goal advantage as Torres collected John-Paul Kissock’s centre and lashed a low shot past Seb Brown.

The visitors halved the arrears six minutes into the second half through Moses Ademola who punished Craig Ross’s hesitancy in coming out of goal.

But Hawks held on for a seventh home win on the trot in all competitions.

Eastbourne Borough’s match away to Weston-super-Mare was postponed.
