Former Crawley Town winger Scott Neilson is ready to give Whitehawk’s play-off bid a boost.
The 27-year-old signed for the Hawks last night following his release by Conference premier side Grimsby Town.
Neilson joined Crawley for £50,000 in 2010, helping them win the Conference premier title in 2011 and 12 months later netting the only goal as the Reds beat Accrington 1-0 to make it back-to-back promotions.
The one-time Norwich youngster is the grandson of former Tottenham and Wales winger Cliff Jones.
Hawks boss Steven King has balanced his budget by extending the loan of Serg Makofo at Dulwich Hamlet while Frantz Tchonang has joined Hampton and Richmond on loan.
Hawks are currently third in Vanarama Conference south. They have no game today but Neilson should make his debut at home to Concord Rangers on Tuesday.
