Ian Chapman has urged his Burgess Hill side to wrap up the title after their proud unbeaten league record was ended.
Hillians went down 1-0 at home to Whyteleafe but still only need 11 points from nine games to win Ryman south.
Boss Chapman said: “It’s disappointing to drop points. We’ve thought about the unbeaten record because everyone keeps talking about it.
“But for me it has never been about that. It has been about winning this league and we are way ahead of where we wanted to be.
“We must regroup now. There are a few dented egos but I think we’ve lost five times in cup ties this season and each time we have bounced back with two or three wins.”
Jason Thompson headed the 57th-minute winner in a game of few chances and Chapman admitted: “We knew they were good at set-pieces.”
