Eastbourne Borough have tonight sacked management duo Garry Wilson and Nick Greenwood.

Boss Wilson and head coach Greenwood had been at Priory Lane for 27 years between them.

First team coach Steve Eke has also left the club.

The decision comes after a disappointing run of results with Borough currently 16th in Blue Square Bet south.

Wilson said: “Obviously I’m disappointed it has come to this. I still feel the targets the club had set us as a management team were more than achievable."

Club captain Ben Austin has been placed in caretaker charge until the club make an appointment.

Sacked! That is a bit harsh, why not leave under a mutual understanding. Have they done something wrong?

The only thing that has gone wrong is results. Not all local managers leave under clouds!

No, seriously, have they been sacked or is that the view of the Argus? If they have, I have genuine sympathy for all three of them. Surely the club could have found a way of softening the blow after all the service they have given.

Oh really. Try this:

Garry Wilson said, “They (committee) felt it was time for change. We were called into to a meeting and I knew it was coming.
“I had already heard the news through some of the players. I’m majorly disappointed I did not hear it first hand.
“But I respect their decision. I hold Len (chairman) in the highest respect and I’m sure they made the decision they felt was right.
“Myself and Nick have given everything to this club. Obviously results have not been great lately but we have achieved tremendous success.
“We are both very proud of the part we have played in this club’s history.”
