Eastbourne's Stevie Morrison is part of the strongest Team GB sailing line-up in Olympic history, according to his boss.

Morrison and colleague Ben Rhodes are regarded as medal contenders in the 49er class, which gets under way at Weymouth and Portland today (noon).

Team GB have been the world's top sailing nation for the last three Olympics, with a haul of nine golds, four silvers and three bronze in Sydney, Athens and Beijing.

Ben Ainslie is the star of the show as he bids for a fourth gold in the Finn Class but RYA Olympic Manager Stephen Park believes Morrison, Rhodes and the rest can make headlines too.

Park said: "Without a shadow of a doubt we have the strongest team we've ever had at an Olympic Games. I think we're in a better place than we’ve been in terms of potential medal winners than any recent Games but I’ve got no doubt there are more serious competing sailors and teams as a whole than we’ve ever seen before."
