Tina Cook's hopes of another double medal Olympics crashed at Greenwich Park today.

But the Sussex eventer still has the consolation of a team silver to take back home to Findon.

Cook, bronze medalist in both the team and individual in Beijing four years ago, needed to go clear in the final round of the showjumping on Miners Frolic to maintain her own medal chances.

But she had the first and third fences down to slip to sixth, a place behind fellow GB mdeal hope Mary King, who knocked over the same two fences.

Sweden's Sara Algotsson Ostholt had gold in her grasp until clipping down the final obstacle on Wega.

She had to settle for silver, the top prize going instead to Germany's Michael Jung aboard Sam, with compatriot Sandra Auffarth taking the bronze on Opgun Louvo.

It was a disappointing end for Cook and the GB team after the day started so well with silver behind the Germans.
