Eastbourne Eagles took a huge step towards the KO Cup final with a 46-44 win at Cradley tonight, writes Paul Watson.

The Eagles came from behind to win the semi-final, first leg, with a 4-2 in the final heat from Adam Ellis and Ellis Perks.

Team manager Connor Dugard said before the match he would be satisfied with a draw but his team went one better.

He said: “A brilliant night. Everyone was really keyed up for this meeting and it showed.

“There was a massive hunger to win.”

Fifteen-year-old Jordan Jenkins proved an inspired choice of guest with seven points (plus three bonus) from the reserve while his fellow 15-year-old, Tom Brennan scored 3+1 from the No 8 slot.

Dugard reminded everyone the tie was still to be won.

He said: "Yes, we have done a great job tonight but it is only half-time.

"The second leg at Arlington will be another close affair without doubt and we must not lose concentration.”
