Eagles send out clear message

Eastbourne sent out a clear warning to their Elite League title rivals tonight by thrashing leaders Poole 57-35 at Arlington.

Eagles were level after six races but piled in five 5-1s from then on, the most notable coming from Joonas Kylmakorpi and Cameron Woodward in Heat 11 when Poole No.1 Chris Holder was going for double points.

Woodward top scored from a full seven-ride programme and Timo Lahti continued to show signs of improvement.

Simon Gustafsson beat Davey Watt when the Aussie took Poole's second tactical ride.

Eagles, operating rider-replacement for injured Lukas Dryml, had ten heat wins with all riders other than Lahti enjoying two chequered flags apiece.

The hosts, who go second in the table just two points behind Pirates, had only two last places as four riders secured double-figure pay packets.

Eagles: Woodward 15+3 (7), Pedersen 11+2 (5), Kylmakorpi 10+2 (5), Gustafsson 9+1 (5), Bridger 8 (4), Lahti 4+1 (4), Dryml r/r.

Poole: C.Holder 10^ (5), Ward 9 (5), Watt 8^ (4), Doyle 6+1 (6), Andersson 2+1 (4), Gafurov 0 (3), J.Holder 0 (3).

Awesome Eagles. If the club can get Lukas back for the play-offs then we can clinch a league and cup double this season. Go for it!
