12:30pm Tuesday 22nd November 2011 in Eagles news By Brian Owen
Eastbourne have revealed they put European ambition before domestic glory in opting out of the Knockout Cup.
Eagles, runners-up in 2010 and winners in 2008, have decided not to enter the cup next season. They say they have taken the decision reluctantly and cited a shortage of available Saturdays. Eagles have been linked with a new European club event next season and co-promoter Mike Bellerby believes that event could still get off the ground.
Bellerby said: “We don’t have viable dates available, especially if we are taking part in the FIM Champions Cup.”
