Trevor Geer is hoping a friendly defeat of Isle of Wight can help tune up Eastbourne Eagles for the toughest test in the Elite League.

Eagles go to surprise early season leaders Swindon Robins tomorrow (7.30pm) hoping to impress a live television audience and score a second away win of the season.

They enjoyed a routine 57-35 success over the Islanders on Saturday in the first of what could become a series of inter-league challenge fixtures on Grand Prix nights.

Team manager Geer said: "It turned out to be a good practice session for some of the lads who have been struggling.

"Lewis Bridger looked to be back to his old self after a very difficult week. He was disappointed about missing out on the British Under-21 Championship on Friday but I think he has learned lot from that meeting.

"He had a good meeting on Saturday. I sent him out for heat 15 and the more rides he gets the more confident he is.

"It will be tough tonight. Swindon have surprised me this season.

"They have got some enthusiastic riders and we have got to be even more determined than they are."

Brent Werner replaces injured James Brundle, who faces several weeks out after breaking an ankle and dislocating a knee in last week's defeat at Poole.

Edward Kennett led Eagles past the Islanders with 14 points from five rides. Bridger added paid-13 while Cameron Woodward scored 11 from four.
