Nicky Jenman is set to top the bill at York Hall when a British Masters bronze middleweight title will be at stake The Brighton middleweight will face Jimmy Coyle at the famous Bethnal Green boxing venue on September 14 on a Steve Goodwin show.

Jenman said: “It is against a boxer I used to fight as an amateur. He was with the Lynn club when we were both amateurs and now he has a professional record of five wins and a draw in his six fights. They have all been against journeymen.

“It will be a good test and we have already been in contact on Facebook.”

The 28-year-old scaffolder is in action tomorrow night at Wolverhampton Civic Hall as the chief support when Frankie Gavin takes on Leonard Bundu for the European welterweight title.

Jenman takes on Gavin’s good friend and regular sparring partner Tommy Langford on the televised BoxNation show.

Langford is the firm favourite with nine straight wins since turning professional while former International Masters middleweight challenger Jenman has eight victories, seven losses and one draw on his card.

Jenman weighs in today having had to shed weight for the fight.

He said: “Because it is a BoxNation show they have the weigh-in the day before and they asked me to lose an extra four pounds.

“It was matched at 11lb 12oz to begin with but was then asked if I could make it at 11lb 7oz. It was okay and I have not had to starve myself.”

Jenman, 28, is under no illusions as to the task he faces with Langford being groomed for bigger things.

He said: “We’re the chief support bout so that’s good. It will be a hard night but I will have a couple of days off after Friday and then get back into training for September.”

Langford believes he will make it a perfect ten on his record by beating Jenman.

He said: “I have seen a bit of him he has good amateur experience, Frankie knows him from the amateurs but from what I have seen I should be a level above him in terms of boxing ability It doesn’t look like he punches particularly hard or has much body strength.”
