Alex Dowsett will be in the yellow jersey when the Tour of Britain arrives in Sussex tomorrow.
IAM Cycling's Matthias Brandle secured a second consecutive stage win while Brit Dowsett (Movistar) took over the overall lead.
At one stage the three-man break, which also included Tom Stewart of Madison Genesis, had as much as a ten-minutes advantage over the peloton and they were able to stay away through the three late climbs to come home 1 minute 51 seconds ahead of the main group.
That advantage allowed Dowsett to leap into yellow with an advantage of 34 seconds over former leader Michal Kwiatkowski .
