Frank Warren has spoken of his frustration after Chris Eubank junior's showdown with Billy Joe Saunders for the European middleweight title was put in jeopardy today.

Promoter Warren had hoped to officially announce the fight for the November 29 show at the ExCel London but contracts had not been signed as press gathered for a conference scheduled to feature Saunders and Brighton fighter Eubank junior.

Warren said: "We had hoped to announce the fight today but a lot of things have happened in the last 24 hours that, even after my time in boxing, have been exasperating to say the least.

"It is a fight that is highly anticipated by everybody but having thought I had an agreement with his manager and promoter Chris Eubank senior, things have changed and it has not got to the stage where the contracts have been signed.

"Contracts were sent out over September when young Chris was in Vegas training and their lawyer was based over here.

"For some reason Chris senior, who was on the phone to me before I came in the door here, said they did not have enough time to deal with it as they had only just got back from Vegas.

"As I said to him, we're in the age of email and telephone and these things are very easy to deal with and I don't understand why we are where we are, "Last night I was on the phone with our lawyer, his lawyer and again thought we had agreed something but this morning what came out this was different.

"Even the money was different to what we had discussed.

"My reaction was to say enough's enough.

"Billy is the champion and has done it the hard way while young Christopher, precocious talent that he is, has fought eight rounds and has not even fought in an eliminator for a title. Billy Joe has agreed to give him a voluntary shot and that is for the fans more than anything.

"Billy holds all the belts and it is up to him to what we do."

Saunders said: "If he wants to fight I'm ready to fight. He's got until 5pm tonight."
