Tommy Widdrington insists everything is rosy at Eastbourne Borough right now.

Borough are currently sixth in Vanarama Conference south, only outside the play-off positions on goal difference, and are through to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The early-season leaders have bounced back from a run of three straight league defeats in September by going unbeaten in their last five league and cup matches.

Boss Widdrington said: “After six games people were saying, ‘What a great start’. After nine games, it was ‘What a great start but ....’. I will say after 14 games, ‘What a great start and ....’.

“For me it has been a really good start. We are still in the FA Cup and we are where or whereabouts we want to be in the league. The world is rosy at the moment.”

Borough visit mid-table Gosport Borough with centre-back Adam Watts the only doubt.

The former Fulham defender came off in last Sunday’s FA Cup win at Kingstonian with a hamstring injury but Widdrington hopes he will be fit for tomorrow’s game.

He said: “Adam works in the physiotherapy industry. He knows when to come off before it goes so hopefully he has managed it well enough.”

Widdrington felt Borough were more comfortable winners last weekend than the 3-2 scoreline suggested. He added: “For the first 60-65 minutes we were head and shoulders above them and deservedly 2-0 up.

“In the Cup you can’t assume anything and that was the case. They scored a couple of good goals but we showed the resolve and confidence to get back and win the game.”
