Whitehawk added another chapter to their fairytale story with an extraordinary FA Cup victory over Lincoln City.

Just five years since playing in the Sussex County League the Hawks are potentially 90 minutes away from taking on one of the Premier League's big boys after blitzing the Imps 5-3 at a bouncing Enclosed Ground.

Fans spilled on to the pitch to celebrate with manager Steven King and his players at the final whistle of an intoxicating match which encapsulated everything that is good about the greatest knockout competition in the world.

Many of them will still be high from the emotion of the occasion when they tune in to tonight's draw discover what Whitehawk's reward is for reaching the second round for the first time in the club's history.

They scored five and could easily have had a few more with only some sloppy defending allowing Matt Rhead to keep the visitors' hopes alive until Sam Deering converted an injury-time penalty to bring the rollercoaster ride to a thrilling end.

King said: "It is hard to enjoy games like that. As a manager you can't really enjoy it until the final whistle goes and then all the relief and the emotion comes out.

"It is a great day and everyone should be proud of themselves from the players to the stewards.

"I feel a bit shellshocked to be honest. Not from winning the game as I thought we thoroughly deserved it but from the emotion of the tie going one way and then the other.

"We have played better this season but we still played some fantastic football and to score five goals in the way we did makes me very proud. We kept letting them back in it but I don't want to criticise anybody as they were all magnificent."
