Whitehawk boss Steven King insists his players are capable of causing another upset after being drawn away in the second round of the FA Cup.

The Hawks’ reward for knocking out Conference premier Lincoln City in a thriller at the Enclosed Ground on Sunday is a trip to either Dagenham and Redbridge or Morecambe.

Dagenham are currently bottom of League Two while Morecambe are 11th. The sides drew 0-0 on Saturday and will replay at Morecambe next Tuesday.

The Shrimpers will be favourites to go through but King believes Hawks – who have never reached the main rounds of the competition before this season – can win the tie if they play to their best.

King told The Argus: “It will be a tough game whoever we play.

“It will be a tough ask but it is the FA Cup. We have players who can play at that level and higher. We are the underdogs and we will give it our best shot.

“With the players we have, if we turn up on the day it is a winnable game.

“We will give anyone a game on our day. We will go into the game full of confidence.”

King will attend the replay next Tuesday.

Dagenham’s squad includes former Whitehawk loanees Kyle Vassell and Ian Gayle.

The FA Cup second round will take place on the weekend of December 5/6.
