Whitehawk will be playing for a potential £1 million prize when they host the biggest game in the club’s history live on television next week.

The Hawks’ FA Cup second round replay with Dagenham and Redbridge has been moved to next Wednesday (December 16, 7.45pm) to accommodate live coverage on BT Sport 2.

The reward for the winners will be a trip to Premier League Everton in the third round in early January.

And club president Chris Gargan has revealed that game could be worth a seven-figure fee to Whitehawk.

The club have already had considerable interest in potential sponsorship should they get through next week to play Everton and that would add to the money the club could earn through shared gate receipts at Goodison Park and further television coverage, particularly if the tie was selected to be screened live.

Gargan told The Argus: “If we get through to play Everton we are talking about six-figure sums for sponsorship.

“We can expect to get £700,000 gross for the gate, £200,000 for TV money and £100,000 for sponsorship. It is a million pound game for us but we have got to stay focused because we have got to beat Dagenham first.”

Whitehawk will earn £36,000 for next week’s replay being screened live and that will add to prize money, gate receipts and television already accrued through their run to the second round.

Gargan says the money will be reinvested into the club.

He added: “We will plough it back into the club. We want to finish the 3G pitch and there are ongoing ground improvements we want to do, including revamping the west stand.”
