Joe Marler has won the battle to start England's Six Nations campaign in the No.1 shirt.

The Sussex-based, former Worthing Raiders loose-head has been named in Eddie Jones' XV to face Scotland at Murrayfeld on Saturday.

Fellow Sussex boy Joe Launchbury was an expected pick in the second row while Dylan Hartley skippers from hooker.

Marler slipped behind Mako Vunipola in the pecking order during England's unsuccessful World Cup campaign.

The other headline-making decision taken by Jones sees Danny Care at scrum-half ahead of long-term rival Ben Youngs.

Jones said: "There were some tight calls on selection but we have picked a match-day squad with a blend of experience and youth."

England: Mike Brown; Anthony Watson, Jonathan Joseph, Owen Farrell, Jack Nowell; George Ford, Danny Care; Joe Marler, Dylan Hartley (captain), Dan Cole; Joe Launchbury, George Kruis; Chris Robshaw, James Haskell, Billy Vunipola.
