Chris Eubank Junior has started a war of words with Gennady Golovkin and Kell Brook after missing out on a world title shot.

Brighton fighter Eubank Jr was expected to sign a deal to fight WBA Super, WBC and IBF world middleweight champion Golovkin last week but the deal hit problems and Brook grabbed the chance with both hands when offered it by promoter Eddie Hearn.

Welterweight champion Brook will step up two weight divisions to meet the Kazakh at London’s 02 Arena on September 10.

Golovkin tweeted: “Up early, time to run. Respect to @SpecialKBrook for taking this fight. Excited to show the UK who I am.”

The post drew a quick response from British middleweight champion Eubank Jr, 26, who is set to miss out on a share of a fight estimated to be worth £3 million.

Eubank Jr, who is managed by his father Chris senior, the two-weight former world champion, wrote: “You’re so called P4P (pound for pound) but fighting a guy two weight divisions below you!? Nobody in the UK or anywhere else is going to respect you.”

“Hearn goes through a tough spot with my contract so offers you Brook as an easy way out and you take it. You ain’t no P4P king doing that.

“After you’re done bullying @SpecialKBrook and you’re ready for a fight with a real middleweight, I’ll be there #PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize.”

Eubank Jr wished Brook all the best but also said: “A huge welterweight is not a middleweight. Golovkin should not be allowed to fight you and everyone will see why in September.”

Brook responded to Eubank Jr: “You never wanted the fight I’ll show you how to deal with @GGGBoxing.”
